Yearbook - how is it progressing

Hello,
we are very happy that we can support the Yearbook Team in their hard work.

This article would like to provide you with more information about the progress made on making of the yearbook, as well as show you how it is going to look like.

35% of the yearbook have been accomplished already.

Our special thanks belong to Jana Rausova and Hai Mac Duy for their long term intensive effort that they have invested into making of the yearbook. We also would like to thank Jakub Kovar, Ondrej Hnat and Linda Doanova.

This is the Central ECP Yearbook 2005/06 website: http://micron.ic.cz/?q=yearbook

Here are all the separate articles related to the ECP Yearbook 2005/06.

Your valuable suggestions and opinions are kindly appreciated.

Thank you, Ilja Mazanek

Hello, I would also like to thank Ilja Mazánek for his support and cooperation. By the way, would you be so kind and simply put a single link? www.micron.ic.cz/?q=yearbook. That'll do for all of the above ;)

Wow, I didn't know the YB was moving forward this quickly :) What about converting the whole thing into Adobe Acrobat and selling it on CDs? Just an idea... Petr

No, it is going relatively slowly (although I must say relative to the amount of other work (e.g. school) all of us must do, we are actually progressing relatively fast, so you are right :D - relatively, of course).

CD... no. 3 CDs would be sold and then no one would buy it, everyone's gonna get it burned from someone. A "real" version is IMHO better, since it is simply "real". We could sell the CD with the source material though (for a high price, like 1000 Kč - we do value our work, don't we ? ;))

Thank you very much.

Unfortunately www.micron.ic.cz/?q=yearbook link does not function. Could you please repair this error ASAP.

Thank you,

You take too long. People, get back to Earth - you mean to tell me that you did 35% in 9 months? That gives me a total of slightly less than 26 months (2 years & 2 months) to finish the task...That's poor. When the XPx Team made theirs, they took just over 3 months to finish. Back then it was primitive but at least it was done in time so the Year 6's could have it. This year's Year 6 will go without as they finish towards the end of the month...

On behalf of the Yearbook team I would like to say.

First of all, originally, the Yearbook would have been 100% accomplished by now. Unfortunately an irresponsible man (whose name won't be published) lost all the photos and therefore pulling them back to 0%.

Secondly, the Yearbook Team is composed of very kind people who do this work voluntarily for the satisfaction of other people like you and me, and meanwhile they have carry out their own school tasks as students.

They have moved from 0% to 35% in approx. 1 month (resuming their efforts in April), which is remarkable if we take into account that they have been recently experiencing one of the busiest school months of the year. So, as you can see their pace of work is almost equivalent to the XPx team. Therefore I have no doubt that the Yearbook will be accomplished by September 2006. – I feel sorry for Year 6, but unfortunately people’s characteristics, such as irresponsibility is something that we can neither control nor regulate.

Thank you for your comments; I do really appreciate it very much.

Best regards,
Ilja Mazanek

Hai,

I have been working on that bizarre ECP pc game.

In terms of software; it is a nightmare (You can’t expect 3D super-stuff such as Call of Duty, etc. from Game-Maker). Nevertheless it is dedicated and somehow related to ECP and consists of 3 levels.

Do you think that it would be possible to add that game on the CD as well? In order to; make things more interesting for people.

Thank you,
Ilja

Hey hey hey, to that anonymous lad, we started recently so you should in fact worship us that we managed about a third in just less than 4 weeks! If you checked out the previews, you would know why it took us so long. We don't want a sorta normal ordinary yearbook, u kno?

To Ilja: unfortunately, the link is correct, so fix it ASAP please. Thx

To Peter: No, even if I told them that if they burn the CDs, they'll get cholera and die really painfully, they'd still do it. Nothing is sacred these days. Nevertheless, it will be a weapon of last resort, when we really cannot find a good enough printer. Many including me personally prefer the "real" version.

QUOTE: "...if they burn the CDs, they'll get cholera and die really painfully, they'd still do it."

My God! I didn't know that the technological progress was so fast that you could secure so good state-of-the-art biotechnological copyright protection precautions.

We have reached the “I Robot” era, Congratulations!

Seriously, I think that you could sell a CD version containing some extra and different content compared to the “real” version. If you will sell it for a really low price, then you won’t stimulate the development of a black “burning” market and people will still buy it + the SC will provide you with a subsidy; in order to make the price low. “Happy and satisfied people, is what we are both aiming for”... really trust Petr, it is a good idea to have a special CD version in parallel.

Nevertheless the final decision is solely up to you.

Thank you,
Ilja

The Big Three parameters of Success: 1. Control; 2. Vision; 3. Determination. You people have Determination and Vision but what you lack is Control. It can be done. But it may be dangerous once you assume it. Without it, though, you're lost. And to the sending: Y6 don't even know that they can order 'em. Let alone where or how and how much is it gonna cost. And you got no way to tell them any more. Just thoughts. Take no offense.

These (Yearbook Team) are sensible people. If they have succeeded to make 35% in less than one month, then dealing with the Year 6 problem shouldn’t be a problem. In the worst case; I will help them in solving it.
